The Great NZ Sports Culture Flop

Is it fair to say, social media has given power to sports fans to spread toxic opinions and negative comments towards players, teams and each other?  It’s tall poppy syndrome on roids

It's even more fucked days after Joe Parker's name is splashed all over socials after his loss a few weeks ago for testing positive for cocaine, at exactly the day of his fight.  I'm not a Sports fan these days, but more of a bandwagoner.  I literally lost interest in watching guys smash the shit out of each other from when an uncle spoke life about time?  Why are we so drawn to watching people, whether it is movies, Sports games, or TV Series?  It was always about people.

Now today I find it bigger than ever, the banter and shit talk between Tongans, Samoans, Kiwis, Maori's a lot of which you should take with a grain of salt.  If you don't find the humor in the POV of someone on social media.  YOU have actually brought it into the Metaverse, and it's the tall poppy syndrome online. Hail the keyboard warrior.

So why is The Sports Culture here fucked?  Well, I put it down to A white man's Criticism of a generation listening to mispronounced Pasifika names and a whole lot of bias.  That one-sided shit stopped many people from being able to think for themselves.  Suppression of the audio being played, while our All blacks were always unbeatable, league fans stayed loyal to the great clubs of South Auckland and Northcote.  While the silverferns battled, trying to become professional paid athletes for the hard and tough, enduring training while balancing motherhood and working 9 to 5.

Just open up your FB feed now and see the biased white voices that are on SKY SPORTS and see how the table has turned 360 degrees

The NRL is dominated by 60 percent Pacific heritage. Rugby is struggling to work with the talent it has in the big cities. Netball is no longer free to air. Basketball, dammn it's hard to be a sports fanatic here bro, straight up,  While Soccer comes out of nowhere to face a hard reality that Auckland has the best places to house some of the best sporting talent in all these sports.  But just struggles to keep the talent here.

If I pulled up a list of all these Sports, not including the ones still strong in local communities, it would blow your mind which one is struggling in Auckland.

Rugby Union - Secondary Schools competitions are still the pinnacle of boys' sport.

Netball Premier - is still Girls.

Touch Rugby - is a low percentage sport in terms of spectatorship but yet it still breeds some of the best talent that makes it out of the grass roots to the big league.

Tag Rugby - Is the fastest-growing sport. Those NZITF are a greedy bunch of Ufas who monopolize the sport.

Club Rugby  - Is all over the place, and every club still has its clowns that stay because gone are the days when everyone at the pub watches The Ab's or Kiwis tests.

Even a Pub is empty most days when games are on. I can say because the only time I know the Pub will be packed out west is when the Blues are playing the Semis or finals and the NZ Warriors are in the top 4.

Do you enjoy the commentary while watching these games?

No I'd rather go where there's music pumping, so I can't hear it. Cause I'm wise enough not to be told about the high tackle I just seen or the forward pass, the no arms in the tackle, the TMO missed, even the late tackle the white man will not touch on, as well as gas lighting the players who are shit and inconsistent.

Well, that's what I put it down to.  The social media world has taken flight, and now the Keyboard Warrior has become the Sports guru and knows it all about most Sports.  Man, people didn't even play it or had no experience apart from the Garage smack talkers.  BUT so used to hearing why their teams play badly when a win is a win. And a near win is not good enough, 80s and 90s sport commentary.

So why is it even worth sharing?  Well I'm sick of seeing and hearing people say we won this and we won that.  When, in all honesty, I couldn't give two shits about it.  Just as long as I can agree to disagree and say 5 cents to someone willing to hear it. Lol

That is all.  Pishh, the Kiwis ain't shit without those Samoan Heritage players. Don't even go there, Kio.  Anyways. I thought I'd get that off my chest, cause better this than waste my energy commenting on everyone's social media posts lol.

Up the Eels and the Toa

Kiwis Through and Through.

Samoan Kiwis are built different.

That's a share for another page.

Anyways

Eat it.
